Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde

Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, known as OKLA, is a Nigerian chartered accountant and politician who serves in the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Kosofe Constituency I under APC.

Before his legislative career, he held executive roles in Lagos State Government, notably as Special Adviser to the Governor on Food Security. This role included key contributions to initiatives like LAKE Rice, a partnership aimed at boosting rice production and food security in Lagos.

Born on March 28, 1965, in Lagos State, Okanlawon began his education at St. Agnes Primary School, Maryland, before proceeding to Victory High School, Ikeja, where he graduated in 1982. He earned an OND and HND in Accountancy from YABATECH between 1990 and 1998.

His professional development included a PGD in Management from the University of Calabar (2000) and an MBA from Lagos State University (LASU, 2006). Before entering politics, he served as Special Adviser on Food Security to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration.

Elected into the legislature in 2019, Okanlawon was re-elected for a second term in the 2023 general elections. In the Assembly, he has held leadership positions such as Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government Administration and Rural Development.

His focus areas include education and youth development through the OKLA Scholarship Scheme, which provides financial support to indigent students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions. Notable beneficiaries include graduates from the University of Lagos.

In 2025, he was conferred with the Islamic chieftaincy title of Baba Adinni by Mende Araromi Central Mosque, Maryland, alongside his wife, who received the honorific Amira-ul-Hajj for contributions to the religious community.
