Faleke James Abiodun is a Nigerian politician who contested the 2019 House of Representative Elections as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Lagos. They won with 25K votes (54.1%).
Biography
Abiodun James Faleke, born on 25 December 1959, is a business management and logistics consultant with extensive experience in senior managerial roles.
He began his career as Purchasing Manager at Aluminium Manufacturing Company of Nigeria (ALUMCO) PLC before transitioning to Crown Agents Ltd as Commercial Manager.
His political journey started in 2003 when Governor Bola Tinubu appointed him Executive Secretary of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, marking the beginning of his active involvement in local governance.
Faleke served two terms as substantive chairman of Ojodu LCDA and later became Chairman of Conference 57 (Lagos State Local Government Chairmen) from 2006 to 2011.
His political career advanced with election into the Federal House of Representatives in 2011, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, where he contributed significantly through committee work and legislative efforts.
He chaired the Anti-Corruption Committee and served on committees for Public Procurement, MDGs, Interior, Public Accounts, Science and Technology, and Petroleum Subsidy Probe.
Faleke also sponsored bills like the NYSC Act Amendment Bill (to provide life insurance coverage) and a motion to close illegal border routes to address insurgency concerns.
In 2015, he ran as deputy governorship candidate for Abubakar Audu in Kogi State but faced complications after Audu’s death during election proceedings. He challenged the subsequent transfer of votes to Yahaya Bello, losing the Supreme Court case over the decision.
