Benson Babajimi Adegoke

Babajimi Adegoke Benson is a Nigerian politician and member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos State.

He was first elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives in 2015, re-elected in 2019, and won his third term during the 2023 general election. Born on March 30, 1972, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, he holds an LLB from Lagos State University (1994) and a Bachelor of Law (Honors) from Nigerian Law School (1995).

He earned an LLM in Comparative International Business Law from London Guildhall University (1999), followed by an MBA at Warwick Business School. A member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association, his career began in 1989 after completing NYSC.

He worked as a Legal Officer in the General Counsel Division at UN Headquarters in New York, and later served as Legal Counsel at Ecobank PLC (2001–2003) before moving to Lead Bank PLC (2003–2004). In 2007, he became a Non-Executive Director at Lekki Free Trade Zone and later company secretary for Lagos State Development and Property Corporation.

He entered politics in 2015 on the APC platform. He has held key committee roles, including Chairman of the House Committee on Banking and Finance, Defense, and other committees like Habitat, Justice, and Environment. His legislative work includes sponsoring bills to improve security, defense funding, and social welfare initiatives.

He advocates for women’s political inclusion and supported gender equality amendments during the 2016 Constitutional Review. He sponsored bills such as the Good Samaritan Act, Electric Power Sector Reform Amendment, and National Icons Legacy Agency Bill. He also initiated World Teachers Day commemorations and petitioned against salary arrears in the civil service.

In his constituency, he launched iCare Food Bank to aid vulnerable groups during hardship. He established IKD 106.1FM as a community radio station and donated an 80-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Imota to improve healthcare access.
