Political Career

Biography

Lawal Adamu Usman, known as Mr. LAA, is a Nigerian politician serving as Senator representing Kaduna Central in the 10th National Assembly since his election win in 2023.

He ran on the PDP ticket and secured 250,066 votes, defeating APC’s Muhammad Sani Abdullahi (Dattijo). His first Senate bid in 2019 ended with defeat to Uba Sani, who won that election.

Returning for a second term in 2023, he was officially declared winner by INEC. In 2025, he survived an assassination attempt while campaigning.

Born in Kaduna State but hailing from the state’s political tradition, his career blends public administration expertise with philanthropy.

He holds a BSc in Public Administration (Ahmadu Bello University, 2018), followed by an MSc in International Affairs and Diplomacy (2021). Primary schooling was at Demonstration Primary School, Gwagwalada, while secondary education came from Diamond Academy in Zaria.

The LA Cares Foundation, founded to aid vulnerable groups—youths, orphans, widows, and marginalized families—is a key part of his public image.

Advocating for social welfare reforms, he opposed Kaduna State’s 2020 tuition fee hike, launching relief funds for affected students and families.
