Biography
Danburam Abubakar Nuhu (born 7 August 1967) is a Banker, Economist, and Politician from the city of Kano, Nigeria. He is affiliated with the Peopleβs Democratic Party (PDP).
He was the sole candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party Municipal constituency in Kano State during the 2015 Nigerian House of Representatives election.
Nuhu served under Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Tourism for three years. He later held the position of Commissioner for the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Sports, focusing on transforming work efficiency and effective development.
Educationally, Nuhu holds a Harvard Business School Executive Management Program degree, an M.Sc in Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, and a BA in Economics from the University of Maiduguri. He is also a Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration (FCIDA), Nigeria, and a member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Business Executives, Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
In his career, Nuhu worked in the banking industry for over 19 years, serving as executive director of FinBank (now First City Monument Bank), managing Retail Banking, Institutional Banking, and Public Sector groups. He previously worked at Inland Bank, FSB International Bank (now Fidelity Bank Nigeria), Diamond Bank, and Liberty Merchant Bank Limited. He also served on the board of directors of SunTrust Savings & Loans (now SunTrust Bank Nigeria Limited) for four years.
Additionally, Nuhu was part of the Interim Management Committee that managed the Nigeria Premier League for the 2012-2013 season, focusing on improving the seasonβs operations. His expertise in management and sports was specifically noted for his involvement.
