Eric Opah

Eric Opah is a Nigerian philanthropist, businessman, and logistics executive.

He serves as the founder and chief executive officer of Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics Limited, a leading logistics and freight forwarding company in Nigeria.

Opah also chairs the Abia State chapter of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce and holds an associate membership with the Institute of Directors Nigeria.

Born in Mbubo, Umunna-Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Calabar.

His career began at Panalpina, where he worked in freight forwarding and shipping operations. Later, he was involved in air cargo operations and helped establish China Southern Airlines’ Nigerian operations as Director of Cargo Operations.

Founded Fortune Global Shipping and Logistics Limited in 2006, expanding his interests into aviation and oil/gas sectors.

He has been a board member of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce and engaged in logistics advocacy in Nigeria.

An American university awarded him an honorary doctorate for contributions to the logistics industry in 2023, followed by The Sun Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2025.

The Eric Opah Foundation, founded in 2016 as a non-profit, focuses on healthcare support, youth empowerment, education, scholarships, and community development projects across Nigeria.

His foundation has supported initiatives like a Mbubo-Nsulu community complex (town hall and primary healthcare centre) and scholarship programs for students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

He is also the founder of the Mbubo Transformation Group, involved in Abia State’s community development efforts.

Opah participated in Nigerian politics by clearing the PDP for rerun primaries in 2023. As an APC member since his political emergence, he was nominated as the party’s flagbearer for Abia’s 2027 governorship election after a landslide victory over Chief Henry Ikoh (125,977 vs. 5,905 votes) on May 21, 2026.
