Political Career
Biography
Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, born on April 16, 1940, is a Nigerian politician currently serving as the senator for Bauchi North senatorial district.
He was elected during the 2019 Nigeria general elections under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and holds a degree from Ahmadu Bello University.
In 2020, he faced controversy alongside Bauchi South Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau over the quality of youth and women skill training projects funded in his district.
The senator’s office received ₦169 million for projects across seven local government areas, but reports indicated substandard training programs.
Participants in the programs, mostly connected to local APC leadership, underwent short six-hour courses in random vocations at a hall in Azare.
Critics accused the training of being inadequate given the allocated funds, and a legislative aide reportedly warned journalists against interviewing beneficiaries.
The aide, Buba Shehu Gololo, threatened the reporter’s life, citing direct instructions from Bulkachuwa, who warned anyone conducting interviews as risking their own safety.
Bulkachuwa is married to Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, a former President of the Nigeria Court of Appeal in Abuja, and has three sons and numerous grandchildren.
