Alabi Akinola

Akinola Adekunle Alabi is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and two-term House of Representatives representative for Egbeda Federal Constituency since 2019.

He served as a member of the 9th National Assembly before assuming office in the 10th National Assembly in June 2023. During his tenure, he sponsored over 10 bills, co-sponsored others, and introduced motions in the House of Representatives.

Alabi is credited with founding Nigeria’s first online sports betting company, NairaBET, and owns Lekki United F.C., a football club based in Lagos.

He previously chaired the Inter-Governmental Affairs Committee until May 2023 before becoming Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on works.

Born in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital, to Chief and Chief (Mrs) Adediran Alabi, he completed primary education at Command Children School, Ibadan, and secondary school at Federal Government College Enugu.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in politics and international relations from Lead City University, Ibadan, an HND in business administration from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Liverpool.

His academic pursuits include a postgraduate dissertation on domestication and implementation of international laws in Nigeria, published in June 2025 at Middlesex University, London.

Alabi is an author of books focused on entrepreneurship, marketing, and business growth in Nigeria. Notable titles include Small Business Big Money and How to Sell to Nigerians.

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alabi first ran for a House seat in June 2019, stepping down as NairaBET CEO to focus on politics. He won his first term in 2019 and secured re-election in 2022 with 34,207 votes.

In May 2025, he was installed as the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, a traditional Yoruba chieftaincy title, marking his formal entry into the lineage’s succession.
