Akinruntan Abayomi Babatunde

Prince Abayomi Babatunde Akinruntan, born on October 21, 1973, is a businessman and politician from Ondo State.

He comes from the illustrious Obateru Akinruntan royal family of Ugbo Kingdom in Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. His early education was at Sacred Heart Nursery/Primary School in Ibadan before attending Command Secondary School there as well.

Later, he pursued tertiary studies at Polytechnic Ibadan, earning a National Diploma in Art and Design in 1995. He also holds an LL.B (Hons) from Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University).

Akinruntan was actively involved in Obat Oil & Petroleum Limited, where he served as Operations Manager until 2001. Since then, he has held key roles at Febson Hotel Nigeria Ltd and is affiliated with multiple companies in oil, gas, hotels, and entertainment.

Appointed Group Executive Director for Operations at Obat Group and Ondo State pioneer coordinator for the NCDMB office in Yenagoa before entering politics. His political career began in 2011 when he contested unsuccessfully for the Nigerian House of Representatives under the Labour Party.

He won his first legislative seat in 2015 as a PDP candidate, representing Ilaje Constituency 1 in Ondo State’s House of Assembly. After decamping to APC on April 17, 2017, he was reelected in 2020 under the same party.

Currently, he serves as a member and parliamentary secretary for the Ondo State House of Assembly.
