Zacharias David Idris

David Idris Zacharias, born on 27 December 1972, is a politician representing the Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela Ofu federal constituency in Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives.

He serves as a member of several key committees, including Appropriation, Ecological Fund, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP).

In 2019, he supported efforts to resolve the boundary dispute between his constituents in Ibaji Local Council (Kogi State) and Otu in Enugu State with the Nigeria Boundary Commission.

A business executive with interests in real estate, Zacharias is the CEO of Eden Multibiz Project Ltd., an Africa-based firm. He also co-founded Maina Court Facility Management Services Ltd. as chairman and founded the David Zacharias Foundation, a non-profit focused on humanitarian aid.

Born in Ejule, Ofu Local Council area of Kogi State, he attended St. Martins Primary School there before obtaining a WASCE from Community Secondary School, Ejule. He holds a B.Sc in Sociology from the University of Abuja and completed training at the Reforming Leadership Institution in Abuja.

Zacharias first ran for APC nomination in 2015 but lost to his opponent in party primaries. In 2019, he secured the ticket and won the Idah constituency seat against incumbent Emmanuel Egwu of PDP, defeating him with a clear majority. Though Egwu later challenged the results, a tribunal ruled in favor of Zacharias’ victory in August 2019, though his opponent still appeals at the Court of Appeal.

As a community leader in Kogi State, he has engaged in humanitarian efforts, particularly during disasters like the 2012 floods, where he distributed relief to victims and presented materials to Governor Idris Wada via Life Gate Foundation and Zacharias Foundation.

Known for his opposition to anti-social behaviors such as thuggery and cultism, especially in Ejule, his initiatives—including scholarships, skills training, and small business funds for vulnerable youths—have contributed to reducing violence in the area. The David Zacharias Foundation has operated for over six years, supporting education, healthcare, sports, and religious causes across Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela, and Ofu local council areas.
