Sahabi Alhaji YaΓΊ (born 16 July 1956) is a Nigerian politician born in Zamfara State who served as Senator for the Zamfara North Senetorial District.
He was elected to the Senate in 2007 on the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform, representing Zamfara North Senetorial District. His tenure included membership on committees such as Downstream Petroleum, Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Public Accounts, and States & Local Government.
After Zamfara State Governor Alhaji Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi shifted his political allegiance from the ANPP to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yaβu maintained loyalty to Shinkafi while remaining technically affiliated with the ANPP.
In February 2008, he publicly supported President Umaru YarβAdua of the PDP, defending his decision-making process against accusations of indecisiveness.
During his time in office, he advocated for reform in Nigeriaβs budget allocation to local governments, aiming to ensure accountability and proper use of funds for intended projects.
In the 2011 elections, Yaβu ran again for Zamfara North Senatorial District but switched platforms to the PDP. He won with over 118,056 votes that year.
He was involved in a high-profile legal case where one of his wives contested their marriage, citing lack of consent. The dispute drew attention due to its intersection with both Islamic and secular judicial systems in Nigeria.
