Waive Ejiroghene Francis is a Nigerian politician who contested the 2019 House of Representative Elections as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Delta. They won with 41K votes (54.09%).
Biography
Francis Ejiroghene Waive, born on 21 May 1966, is a Nigerian priest and politician who now serves as a member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, representing Ughelli North/South/Udu federal constituency.
He attended Aladja Grammar School in Udu, Delta State, before earning an accounting degree from Ambrose Ali University (formerly Edo State University Ekpoma).
Waive served his National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State with Oceanic Bank PLC (now Ecobank Nigeria) and later left banking to pursue ministry.
He relocated to Warri in 1997, founding the Church of the Anointing there. Before his election, he was the senior pastor of this church.
His efforts included establishing the Riverine Communities Health & Development Organization to support medically underserved communities in the Niger Delta region.
Waive’s election into the House of Representatives has been marked by multiple legal challenges, including disputes over primaries and post-election results. These litigations spanned from state high courts to the Supreme Court, influencing judicial precedents in Delta State.
His 2015 election involved a controversial case where a candidate was declared dead while he was still campaigning; his candidacy was later approved.
Married to Rita—a guidance and counselling educationist—he has five children. Currently, Waive chairs the House Committee on Rules and Business in the 10th Assembly.
