Biography

Abubakar Umar Gada was born on January 16, 1966, in Sokoto State.

Before politics, he worked as a Crude Oil marketer for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He began his political career in 2003 with an unsuccessful attempt to become deputy governor of Sokoto State.

Gada was elected senator for Sokoto East in 2007 and joined several Senate committees, including Integration and Cooperation, Establishment & Public Service, Downstream Petroleum, Communications, Commerce, Water Resources, and Women and Youth.

In his tenure as a senator, he criticized the performance of Bode Agusto during Obasanjo’s administration and spoke on issues like the management of transport sector funds and the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).

He commented on the Maiduguri violence involving Boko Haram in 2009, noting their recruitment of unemployed individuals.

Gada has academic qualifications including a Master’s in Public Administration, a Master’s in Business Administration, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration, and a Bachelor of Science degree.
