Uju Kingsley Chima was born in 1978 and grew up in Imo State. He attended Trinity High School in Oguta as his secondary education institution.
He later pursued higher studies at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, obtaining a Bachelorβs Degree in Cooperative and Rural Development.
Before entering politics, Chima held various administrative roles within Imo State government, including as Sole Administrator of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission. He also served as Commissioner for Lands and Chairman of the Bureau for Lands, alongside other positions such as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Operations unit at the Imo State Government House.
Chima first contested for a seat in the House of Representatives in 2019 under Action Alliance but later joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) before aligning with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He represented Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West and contributed to legislative work, including sponsoring bills and supporting motions.
During his tenure, he oversaw constituency projects while also founding Zara Uju Global Foundation, an NGO focused on women and youth empowerment. The foundation received recognition such as the Pillar of Youth Empowerment Award from Ohaji Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Constituency Youths.
In the 2023 House of Representative elections, Chima ran again under PDP but lost to Dibiagwu Eugene Okechukwu. A false allegation of rape against him in 2019 was later investigated and debunked by Nigerian Police and Imo State authorities as a blackmail conspiracy.
