Mustapha Saliu

Mustapha Saliu, born September 25, 1975 in Ilorin (Kwara state), is a Nigerian politician representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District since 2023 as an APC senator.

He was previously a deputy national chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change and founded Saliu Mustapha Foundation.

His educational background includes primary studies at Bartholomew Primary School in Zaria, secondary education at Command Secondary School in Kaduna, and a degree in mineral resources engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic.

Mustapha served as the first national publicity secretary of the Progressive Action Congress (PAC). He joined ANPP and held the position of national deputy chairman until its merger into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013.

He contested for the APC’s national chairman position but lost to Sen. Adamu Abdullahi. In 2018, he was disqualified from participating in Kwara state’s APC primary midway through the election; the party later apologized for this unauthorized move.

In 2022, Mustapha won the APC primaries for the Kwara Central senatorial seat, defeating incumbent Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe. Since August 8, 2023, he has chaired the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development.
