Biography

Saidu Musa Abdullahi, known as SMA, is a Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Bida/Katcha/Gbako federal constituency in Niger State. Born circa 1979, he assumed office in June 2019.

He holds the traditional title of Dan-Barije Nupe and was elevated to Gorozon (Mesiah) of Nupe Kingdom by Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar (CFR). Abdullahi is the deputy chairman of the House of Representatives' Committee on Finance, secretary of the Niger State Caucus of the Ninth National Assembly, and a member of several other committees including Public Petitions, Banking & Currency, Insurance & Actuarial Matters, Federal Capital Territory, Agricultural Colleges & Institutions, and Interparliamentary Affairs.

With a background in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria (second class) and a Master’s in Development Studies from Bayero University, Kano, he has over ten years of professional experience in Banking and Oil/Gas sectors. He started with Zenith Bank Plc in 2000 and later worked as a sales manager for Oando Plc in multiple states including Adamawa, Jalingo, Benue, Kano, and Jigawa. He is currently the COO of Gerawa Global Engineering Limited.

Abdullahi was the spokesman for the Solitaire Economics Class at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2005. He entered politics in 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), contesting for the Bida/Gbako/Katcha federal constituency. He has supported 100 students from his constituency for educational purposes at institutions like Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, Nigeria Army University Biu, Federal University of Technology Minna, and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

He has organized the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 2020, 2021, and 2022, registering over 2,500 candidates. Abdullahi has expressed support for the APC’s gubernatorial ticket, stating that it would be a diversion if the ticket was not given to the incumbent Governor or President Muhammadu Buhari.
