Biography
Mohammed Nasir Idris, born on 6 August 1965 in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area of Kebbi State, is a Nigerian unionist and educationist.
He serves as the current governor of Kebbi State, having previously held roles within labor organizations such as the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Idris earned his Primary School Certificate Grade II and National Diploma qualifications. He later pursued further studies at The Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi between 1994 and 2003, and Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, between 2006 and 2009 for an MBA.
He holds a PhD in Education and has contributed to academic discourse through various research papers on education. His professional career includes past roles as the chairman of NUT Kebbi State, former deputy president of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and national treasurer of NUT.
In 2018, he was elected president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Idris was nominated as the APC gubernatorial candidate for Kebbi State in May 2022. He won the 2023 Kebbi State gubernatorial election, securing 409,225 votes according to INEC’s declaration on 17 April 2023.
