Idris Nasir

Mohammed Nasir Idris was born on 6 August 1965 in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. His early professional engagements included roles as a unionist and education advocate.

He served as the national president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Idris also held positions such as former chairman of NUT in Kebbi State, former chairman of NLC in Kebbi State, and former National Treasurer of NUT.

His educational background includes a Primary School Certificate Grade II Certificate and a National Diploma. He later pursued further studies at The Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi (1994–2003) and Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, where he obtained an MBA between 2006 and 2009.

Idris holds a PhD in Education and has contributed to academic discourse through various research papers on education. His professional career includes teaching and administrative roles in education.

In 2018, Idris was elected president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). These roles reflect his commitment to labor rights and educational reform.

He was nominated as the Kebbi State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in May 2022 following the APC primary election. Idris was declared winner of the 2023 Kebbi State gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), securing over 409,225 votes.
