Gyang Istifanus Dung is a Nigerian politician who contested the 2019 Senate Elections as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Plateau.

Biography

Gyang Istifanus, born in 1964, is a Nigerian senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly.

He is an indigene of Plateau State and began his education at Government Secondary School, Riyom, obtaining his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1981.

He later studied at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, earning a bachelor’s degree in International Studies in 1986.

Furthering his academic pursuits, he attended the University of Jos, where he obtained a second degree in law in 2004 and was called to the Nigerian bar in 2007.

In 2015, he ran for a seat in the House of Representatives under the PDP for the Barkin Ladi/Riyom constituency and was declared the winner.

In 2019, he contested for a Senate seat under the PDP, representing Plateau North, and was elected, serving in the 9th National Assembly since then.

During the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, he honored fallen heroes and serving soldiers of Nigeria’s armed forces.
