Biography
Ibrahim Adamu Gumba was born on October 10, 1948, and became a prominent politician in Nigeria.
He earned a BSc in government and served in the Nigeria Customs Service, reaching the rank of deputy comptroller general before becoming head of the Bauchi State civil service.
In 2006, he held the position of commissioner for education in Bauchi State during his tenure with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The senatorial seat for Bauchi South became vacant after Senator Bala Muhammed was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by President Goodluck Jonathan.
In the 23 August 2010 bye-election, Gumba secured a significant victory with 273,764 votes, defeating Ibrahim Haruna of ANPP and Danjuma Dabo of CPC.
He won the PDP primaries for the Bauchi South senatorial seat in April 2011 against former Senator Abubakar and INEC commissioner Mohammed Abubakar.
In the national elections, Gumba received 312,627 votes, outpacing Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim of ANPP, who scored 114,281 votes. He served as Senator for Bauchi South until March 2015 when Malam Wakili succeeded him after defeating Isa Yuguda.
