Eno Umo Bassey

Umo Bassey Eno was born on April 24, 1964, in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit-Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He began his education at a local authority primary school in Lagos State, earning his first school-leaving certificate. His secondary studies took place at St. Francis Secondary School in Eket and Victory High School in Ikeja, Lagos.

Eno earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Uyo and later obtained an MSC in the same field.

Before entering politics, he worked in corporate roles, including positions with Union Bank, Bertola Machine Tools Nigeria Limited, and Norman Holdings Limited, where he served as CEO. He subsequently founded Royalty Groups, a private enterprise.

In 2021, Governor Udom Emmanuel appointed him Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in Akwa Ibom State. After resigning from this role to run for governorship, he won the 2023 election under the PDP banner, securing over 354,000 votes.

In June 2025, Eno publicly defected from the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is a clergyman and founder of All Nations Christian Ministry International. His political career has been recognized with awards such as the National Merit Award for Change and Good Leadership, Service Excellence in Public Administration, and honorary titles like Obong Unwana of Nsit Ubium.

Eno’s professional and community contributions include leadership roles in tourism development, hotel management, and labor advocacy. He has also received accolades from bodies like the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and Nigeria Police Force for his governance and service excellence.
