Biography
Lynda Chuba-Ikpeazu, born on 22 June 1966, is known for her role as the first-ever Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 1986.
She holds a background in beauty pageants and has been recognized internationally, including as Nigeria’s first representative at Miss Universe since Edna Park in 1964, though her most notable achievement was winning Miss Africa in 1987.
Her family ties include being the daughter of former Chief Justice and two-time Nigerian Football Association chairman Chuba Ikpeazu. She is one of eleven female lawmakers out of the 360 members in Nigeria’s House of Representatives.
She attended education in Nigeria, England, and the United States, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the Federal Government College at Enugu and later obtaining a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Lynda worked part-time as a model in the U.S. before transitioning into business ventures, particularly in oil servicing in Lagos State.
Her political career spans over two decades, beginning with representation in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). She later ran successfully for a second term in 2004 as a PDP candidate in Onitsha North-South Federal Constituency.
She has held positions such as Chair, House Committee on Maritime Safety and Education, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Anambra United. Her political trajectory includes wins in 1999 (55,103 votes) but losses in 2023 for the House of Representatives.
