Biography

Aliyu Aminu Garu is a Nigerian politician representing Bauchi constituency in the House of Representatives since 2023.

Born on September 30, 1962, near Alkali Aminu House along Gombe Road in Bauchi, he holds an Advanced Diploma from higher education studies.

He previously served as chairman of Bauchi Local Government during Governor Ahmed Muazuโ€™s administration in the early 2000s.

As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Garu won the House of Representatives seat for Bauchi Federal Constituency with 37,760 votes in 2023 elections.

He has sponsored eight bills and moved several motions at the National Assembly, contributing to legislative work.

In 2024, he launched an empowerment initiative distributing cash and fertilizer worth โ‚ฆ85 million to youth, women, and vulnerable groups in Bauchi.

The scheme aimed to boost agricultural productivity and alleviate economic struggles, though some critics viewed it as insufficient or symbolic of broader challenges faced by his constituency.

Garu has also invested in infrastructure projects, including solar-powered streetlights across communities, and supported education by donating materials and sponsoring students for higher studies.
