Biography

Idiat Oluranti Adebule was born on 27 November 1970 in the family of Idowu-Esho from Ojo Alaworo, Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

She attended Awori College in Ojo for her early education before proceeding to Lagos State University (Ojo) to study Islamic Education in 1992.

Later, she earned a certificate in early childhood development curriculum and school administration from the Nigeria Institute of International Education Association in 2006. She also pursued a master’s degree in curriculum studies at the same institution.

In 2012, she obtained her Doctorate degree from the Nigeria Institute of International Education Association.

Her professional career began as a Junior Lecturer in Religious Studies at Michael Otedola College Of Primary Education, Epe. She later transferred to the Lagos State University’s department of curricular activities, where she reviewed the Lagos State Education Policy Document.

Dr Adebule’s political journey started with her appointment as Commissioner 1 in Lagos State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (now Teachers’ Establishment and Pensions Office) by Bola Ahmed Tinubu from October 2000 to February 2005. She also served as a board member of the Lagos State Scholarship Board between February 2005 and November 2005.

She was appointed Secretary to the State Government in July 2011 by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).

From May 2015 to May 2019, she served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State, making her the sixth woman to hold the office.

She was elected as Senator for Lagos West in the 2023 Nigerian Senate Elections and has held this position since then.
