Siminalayi Fubara (born Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara on 28 January 1975) is a Nigerian politician and accountant who has served as Governor of Rivers State since 23 May 2023. He was born and raised in Opobo, Rivers State, and is the second of five children. His father, Joseph Fubara, was a former military soldier, while his mother, Love Fubara, was a civil servant. He attended Opobo Primary School and Comprehensive Secondary School, Opobo.
Fubara studied Business Education at Rivers State University, earned a postgraduate degree in Accounting from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and obtained both an MSc in Finance and an MBA from the University of Port Harcourt Business School. He began his public-service career in 2003 as Principal Accountant of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board, became Director of Finance and Accounts in 2015, Permanent Secretary in 2020, and then Accountant General of Rivers State on 23 December 2020, serving until May 2022.
After winning the PDP governorship primary, he won the 2023 Rivers governorship election and assumed office as governor. On 18 March 2025, he was suspended following an emergency rule declared by President Bola Tinubu and was replaced by Ibok Ekwe Ibas; he was reinstated on 18 September 2025. He has been a member of the APC since December 2025, received the 2023 International Peace Prize Medal Award from TheNigerian (UK), and is a Fellow of both the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria.
