Biography

Benson Sunday Agadaga (born 12 June 1956) is a Nigerian politician and a senator from the Bayelsa East Senatorial District.

Background: Benson Sunday Agadaga, born on June 12, 1956, in Bayelsa State, belongs to the Urohobo tribe. His father was Chief Sunday Ebenezer Agadaga, and his mother was Mrs. Virginia Erenimugha Agadaga. He is married to Mrs. Regina Apuega Agadaga.

Educational Career: Benson Sunday Agadaga started his education at ST. Luke School in Ologoghe (1960–1967) and attended ST. Michael High School in Oloibiri (1969–1970). He earned a diploma from Rivers State College of Education (1976–1979), followed by a degree from Ahmadu Bello University (1981–1983). He furthered his studies at the University of Calabar (1998–2000) and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (2000–2004), obtaining an MBA in Human Resources in 2006.

Achievements: Agadaga served as principal at C.S.S Kolo (1988–1993), G.G.S Ukubie (1995–1996), and C.S.S Zarama (1996–1998).

Political Career: He served as Special Adviser on Establishment in Governor Seriake Dickson’s Bayelsa State government. In 2020, he was appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Douye Diri until 2022, when he resigned to run for the Bayelsa East Senatorial District. He won the PDP nomination in 2023, securing 67 votes against Rex Jude Ogbuku (41) and Nyenami Odual (2). In the February 25, 2023 Senate election, he polled 22,517 votes but lost to the incumbent Fremieyo Degi of APC.
