Biography
Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe (born 1 March 1955) is a Nigerian politician who has served as the Senator representing Abia South senatorial district since 2007.
He previously served as Deputy Governor of Abia State from 1999 until his resignation and subsequent impeachment in March 2003. He was the minority leader in the 9th Senate.
During a 2020 motion against worsening insecurity in Nigeria, Abaribe urged President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, citing failure to address security challenges, referencing a 2015 campaign promise that Buhari would be removed if he did not improve security.
Abaribe earned his WASSCE from Government College Umuahia in 1974. He later obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Benin in 1979 and a master's degree in economics in 1982. He taught at Edo State University from 1982 to 1985.
From 1985 to 1991, he worked as the area manager for Southern Nigeria at SCOA Nigeria. Between 1991 and 1992, he held the role of senior manager for investment at Nicon. From 1993 to 1995, he served as the CEO of Integrated Mortgage Co.
