Biography

Dozie Ferdinand Nwankwo (born August 28, 1975) is a Nigerian politician who has represented Njikoka/Anaocha and Dunukofia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He won the primary election under APGA for the Anambra Central Senatorial District for the 2023 Senatorial election but lost the senatorial seat to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Victor Umeh.

Early life and education: Nwankwo was born in Enugu, the former capital of Anambra State, to a banker father. He is from Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. He attended the University of Port Harcourt, obtaining a BSc in Accounting. Currently, he is pursuing a postgraduate degree in Business Administration (with an option on Leadership) at the University of Liverpool, UK. He has also completed various online and offline management courses. He is married to Fabia Dozie Nwankwo and they have four children. He lost his father at the age of 83 in 2022.

Political career: Nwankwo began his political journey as a student unionist at the University of Port Harcourt. He joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and contested for the election to represent the Njikoka/Anaocha and Dunukofia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. The election results were contested, leading to a case at the election tribunal. He successfully reclaimed his mandate from a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate after winning at the Court of Appeal Elections Petitions tribunal on November 1, 2019. He was sworn in on November 21, 2019, in Abuja. He has served two terms in the Federal House of Representatives. His legislative interests include Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure, and Petroleum (Upstream).

In the 2023 Nigerian Senate election, Nwankwo contested for the Anambra Central Senatorial District under APGA but lost to Victor Umeh of the Labour Party, who received 103,608 votes compared to Nwankwo’s 69,702 votes.
