Biography

Saliu Mustapha (born **January 1, 1973**) is a Nigerian politician who serves as the Senator representing the Kwara Central Senatorial District since 2023. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former deputy national chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, which merged to form APC. He is also the Founder and Chairman of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation.

Early life and education: Mustapha was born in Ilorin, Kwara State. He attended Bartholomew Primary School in Zaria for his primary education and Command Secondary School in Kaduna for his secondary education. He studied mineral resources engineering at Kaduna Polytechnic.

Political career: He was the first national publicity secretary of the Progressive Action Congress (PAC). He joined ANPP and became the national deputy chairman in 2009, holding the position until the party merged into APC. He contested for the APC national chairman position but did not emerge as the consensus candidate, with Sen. Adamu Abdullahi winning instead.

In the 2018 Kwara state APC primary, Mustapha was endorsed by the northern part of the state but was disqualified midway, later apologized for by the party. During the 2022 APC primaries in Kwara State, he emerged as the candidate to represent the party in the Kwara Central senatorial election, defeating the incumbent senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe. In August 2023, he was appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development.
