Biography

Basheer Lado Garba Mohammed (born 16 October 1966) is a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as Senator for the Kano Central constituency of Kano State, Nigeria, on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform during the April 2011 national elections.

On 27 May 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him as the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, a role he held until September 2021.

Early life and education: Born in Nasarawa, Kano State, he attended Bayero University, Kano, earning a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Political Science.

He is a businessman with interests in banking, property, and trading. Mohammed founded the Ladon Alheri Foundation, a charity supporting projects like schools, water boreholes, and eye surgery, reflecting his commitment to addressing gaps in Nigeria’s developmental chain for meaningful citizen lives.

In the April 2011 election for the Kano Central Senatorial seat, he received 359,050 votes, leading over competitors Aminu Abba Ibrahim (ANPP) and Alhaji Bello Isa Bayero (CPC). He lost the 2015 election to Rab'iu Musa Kwankwaso (APC), who secured over 500,000 votes.
