Adewole Adebayo is a Nigerian politician who contested the 2023 Presidential Elections as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate. They received 80K votes (0.33%).
Biography
Prince Adewole Adebayo, born on January 8, 1972, in Ondo City, is a lawyer and founder of KAFTAN TV. His family traces lineage back to 1510 and belongs to the Ondo royal family.
From 1978 to 1983, he attended St. Stephen Primary School in Ondo, followed by St. Joseph College in Ondo between 1983 and 1989. Between 1991 and 1997, he studied at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned a law degree.
After graduating from the Nigerian Law School in Lagos in 2000, Adewole passed his bar exams and later studied law in the United States, where he passed the New York Bar Exams.
He began his legal career as a litigation lawyer at Tunji Abayomi and Co. in Lagos. In 2002, he founded Adewole Adebayo & Co., House of Law, a recognized law firm by the International Financial Law Firm Review.
His law firm represented Continental Transfert Technique Limited in a case involving Femi Falana (SAN) and the Nigerian government over the constitutionality of CERPAC fees.
In 2006, Adewole was appointed by the United Nations and the Economic Community of West African States as a Commissioner on Liberia’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
He is listed as an active attorney by the State Bar of California and holds membership in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as a Fellow, with Nigeria as his primary branch.
Adewole founded KAFTAN TV in 2016, a regional news network broadcasting in Hausa and Yoruba, reaching over a million viewers. The network supports an apprenticeship program for young broadcasters, training over 1,000 individuals.
Beyond media, he has interests in agriculture, forestry, and mining, including a large-scale tree-planting initiative in northern Nigeria and a marble-processing site in Abuja.
He sponsors over 2,000 young Nigerians in tertiary education and has financially empowered numerous individuals across the country. Adewole has also provided shelter for Nigerians fleeing religious violence.
Each year, he hosts an annual Christmas marathon in Ondo, attracting around 5,000 participants from Nigeria and Africa. Adewole engages in public affairs commentary and participates in Nigerian politics as part of the Third Force.
He ran for president in the 2023 Nigerian elections under the Social Democratic Party, losing with 80,267 votes. In May 2026, he was nominated as the SDP’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

Strengthen the independence and accountability of the judiciary by improving remuneration, working conditions, upgrading facilities, and expediting trials to deter corruption.
Education
The SDP will design educational programs in the tech, edtech, and agricultural sectors with active Diaspora involvement, including allowing Diaspora voting in Nigerian elections.
Infrastructure
Committed to rapid improvement of critical infrastructure like electricity, petroleum products, water supply, and access roads to reduce production costs and enhance competitiveness.

Will develop effective mortgage institutions offering long-term loans to homebuyers at low interest rates
Security & Defense
Overhaul the Nigeria Police Force in training, orientation, and practices to adopt international best practices for modern policing
Environment & Climate
Commits to stopping gas flaring within two years as a specific environmental policy.
Governance & Reform
The SDP pledges to ensure community participation in Niger Delta development programs, drawing on existing reports like NDDC and Ledum Mittee Report, aiming for holistic region-wide growth within four years.
Foreign Policy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be restructured to improve foreign policy capabilities by enforcing language skills for diplomats and maintaining a 60:40 ratio between career and non-career diplomats.
Economy & Trade
Nigeria commits to advocating for non-reciprocal trade status under WTO and addressing developmental issues from the Doha Ministerial, aiming to reform World Bank/IMF policies to better serve Third World countries.
