Bio
Yabagi Yusuf Sani, also known as YYSani or Jakardan Nupe ("Ambassador of Nupe"), was born on 1 July 1957 and is described as a Nigerian politician and energy and crude-oil expert. He has served as National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party and was the party's presidential candidate in the 2019 general election.
Born in Bida to a father who held the Ciroman Samarin Nupe title, he attended East School Bida from 1961 and Technical College, Kontagora, from 1970. He is described as graduating from Harvard University and Institute of Technology, New York, in 1976, and from Columbia University, New York, in 1978 with a BSc in management engineering, and as completing National Youth Service Corps.
Sani began his career in 1980 at PPMC Depot Kano under the NNPC and entered politics in 1991, including roles as a founding ANPP member, board of trustees member in the All Nigeria Peoples Party, APP governorship candidate in Niger State in 1999, financial secretary in the former Nigeria Liberal Convention (NLC/NRC), and North Central presidential coordinator for Bashir Tofa in 1993. In 2021, he emerged as IPAC national chairman, and on 31 May 2022 he was declared ADP presidential standard-bearer by consensus at the party's special convention in Abuja after screening and confirmation.
