Mohammed Umaru Bago is a Nigerian banker and politician born on 22 February 1974 in Minna, Niger State, and is identified as being from a Nupe family. He became governor of Niger State on 29 May 2023 after winning the 2023 gubernatorial election against PDP candidate Isah Liman Kantigi. He previously represented Chanchaga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
He attended Marafa Primary School, Minna, and Federal Government College, Jos, where he obtained his WAEC certificate. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
His postgraduate training includes a postgraduate diploma in management from the Federal University of Technology Minna (2001), an MBA in economics from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma (2003), and a master's degree in finance from the University of Calabar (2005).
